Tight Jeans

Tight jeans is heavily about dialogue rather than a story, the film's genre is light comedy and the story follows Sad Field's three act structure. We see 3 young, black men waiting for a lift from their friends. While the dialogue appears light and humorous, it faces issues such as race and culture. It leads off of the question 'how can a man wear jeans that tight?'. They talk about how black people populated the world. When another person walks past, one of the friends repeats the question about tight shirts again and we assume the same situation will repeat. This means the narrative leaves us with an open ending. The director, Destiny Ekaragha, said  "I think sometimes laughter is the best way to talk about serious issues, because it stays in your head longer".

Mis En Scene: The costumes are a key point of the movie as it distinguishes the boys from the boy who passes them which leads to the conversation which runs throughout the movie. They wear more baggy, colourful clothes in comparison to the boy with the tight fitting, dark tone clothes. This portrays to the audience that the characters are in different social groups.
We also are shown clothing stands at the beginning of the movie which suggest that clothing is going to be a key point in the movie. The colours of the boys clothes make them stand out in front of the dull, brick background. The colours not only draw us to them but also help convey each of their characters:
Theo wears blue which presents him as a calmer person than his friends. He is quieter and reasons with logic.
Joseph wears red which portrays him as more loud and inpatient.
These colours could show the opposing reactions to what the boy, Marcus, in the middle is saying. He wears a striped top with orange and grey, which shows him as more neutral but also possibly more eccentric. Joseph listens to Marcus and believes what he says, whereas, Theo seems smarter and realises how ridiculous some of the things he says are.
